The royal hue is surprisingly adaptable. Converse trainers in purple plaid anyone? These are lipsmacking and add a little Vitamin C fizz to an already iconic fashion staple.

UK retailer Hobbs does classy English to a tee; think Country Road with a plum in its mouth and you'll get the idea. Deep plum is also of course a hot colour this season, channelled through Hobbs' delightful Shaw bag.

Another British darling, LK Bennett, specialises in posh footwear and gear - the kind of stuff you'd wear to the races or a summer garden party... given the UK weather, galoshes might be more practical - but so unpretty by comparison.

Doc Martens have shown their metal in recent times, offering a new fashion edge to their time honoured footwear, as shown in these nifty metallic three-hole lace-ups.

Metallics look set to remain a key theme in accessories, with this beautiful clutch from US designer Nicole Miller adding a dash of glam to a fashion staple.

Melbourne label Gorman seems a perfect fit for the current clog trend, with this limited edition pair in bronze adding exoticism to an earthy yet wearable trend.

The slick finish on this understated sandal says it all - Olrik Denmark can be relied on to supply shoes that are effortlessly stylish and easy to wear, with a touch of Scandinavian class.

Yellow, the surprise ticket of recent seasons, reigns supreme, even as an autumnal hue. This buttercup coloured bag from US giant Banana Republic, would work beautifully with marl or charcoal.

This white distressed belt hails from Witchery Man, and while some might be exactly that - distressed - to see it on a bloke, it would look great on the girls, worked back with dark jeans and a relaxed neutral top.

Wittner's done it again with this new ‘Venice' style, channelling the flashbulb panache of the runway, with one eye on the taste and budget of the girl on the street.

Karin Heller, the name behind luxe bag brand Kikko, is now designing belts for kids and adults. Faced with gorgeous Japanese cotton, they're an instant style injection.

These days a man without good sneakers is like a game without a ball; a sorry sight. Vans offer a failsafe remedy... fit for fun or a cool suited look.

They say girls just wanna have fun, but it looks more than likely that young boys have all they need to enjoy a colourful summer, thanks to these lime and green sneakers from Rivers.

Created by the accessories designer for Jigsaw UK, the 'Tabitha' bag, puts the helping hand into handbags, raising money to fund surrogate "grannies" to care for abandoned children in Bulgaria.

Statement shoes are big on the catwalks for AW09/10, with these heels from Yves Saint Laurent showing relative restraint compared to some of the colossal constructions on show.
