A rockin' combination

25 August 2011

When you combine Swarovski crystals and unique leather you’re bound for a rockin’ combination. This is exactly what Rock and Reptile had in mind when they started their unique shoe label. Natalie Lomas of Brooke Derek agency knew there was a gap in the Australian footwear market for the brand’s unusual designs.

So after a trip overseas - and purchasing several pairs of RR for herself - she inquired if the brand had representation in Australia and worked for 18 months to land the exclusive rights. “We try to bring in the unusual designs from each season,” says Natalie. “All RR styles are manufactured with genuine materials so each style will vary from real snakeskins to buffalo and crocodile leather, and sharkskin.” This is where the Rock and Reptile name originated - Rock for the genuine Swarovski crystals used in the couture evening designs and Reptile from the origins of the leathers. “The Couture Swarovski Crystal styles are definitely best sellers due to the quality and designs of each collection,” says Natalie. “They are favourites with bridal stores also as we can custom manufacture designs and coordinate crystal colours for bridesmaids to match dresses and themes.”

Rock and Reptile will showcase their original designs at the Fashion Exposed trade show this weekend from August 28-30 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. “We love meeting new stores from all over Australia and look forward to picking up new outlets in all states,” she says. “We aim our collections each show at boutique dress stores, high-end fashion outlets, bridal stores and are always looking for new stockists to send the enquiring public to.”

In other company news, Natalie says they recently had incredible national coverage in popular glossy’s NW magazine, Who, Woman’s Day, Ok Magazine, Bride to Be and Cosmopolitan Bride. “Each has generated massive interest in our designs and we are now looking for representation in most states to refer the clients to stores,” says Natalie.
