Crocs in copyright battle

In an unlikely clash between footwear and fast cars, global trademarked shoe brand Crocs has found itself embroiled in a copyright stand-off with renowned luxury auto brand Porsche, over use of the Cayman brand name for one of its footwear offerings. The case could prove a costly exercise for Crocs.


Sydney based footwear company Sapato Imports has picked up the distribution rights to cutting edge shoe label Fly London. Produced in Portugal and targeted at "men's and ladies' fashion conscious heads", the brand is distributed to more than 20 countries, as Sapato's Adam Westheimer confirmed.


UGG launches monster boot

Leading manufacturer and wholesaler of Australian made UGG boots Chic Empire has unveiled plans to launch a new, larger than life line of the famed boots next year. A spokesperson for the brand said the new line had recently been launched overseas to an overwhelming reception, and was confident of replicating its triumph in Australia.


Brazilian shoe and accessories brand Carmen Steffens has defied the recent downturn to make a strong debut in the Australian market, while also making plans for further expansion on these shores, according to the brand's Canberra franchisee Emilia Rossi.

Holster expands jelly range

Noosa based shoe, belt and accessories brand Holster has revealed plans to expand its jelly shoe range to include Wellington boots and toddlers' jelly shoes. A spokesperson confirmed the toddlers' shoes, currently hitting stores, would complement the kids' range, which caters to 6 to 12 year olds.
