A new industry support network has been unveiled with the promise of linking textiles, clothing and footwear (TCF) firms to foster innovation and competitiveness. Innovation Minister, Senator Kim Carr said the TCF Innovation Network would be tasked with strengthening and creating links between businesses, researchers and educational institutions.

"Collaboration really is the key to innovation. This network will link TCF firms with the best ideas, experience and practice from within and outside the sector," said Carr.

The network is part of the Government's $50 million a year Enterprise Connect initiative and aims to map existing TCF business clusters and develop case studies around best practice to share with TCF firms.

"For too long Australia's innovation system has been held back by fragmentation, duplication and lack of co-ordination. It was for these reasons that the Government established Enterprise Connect."

The network will be established with the guidance of the TCF Industries Innovation Council. Eligible TCF businesses will have access to free business reviews and dollar-for-dollar tailored advisory service grants of up to $20,000 to implement business review recommendations.
